Kalmar Regiment 1700s (original) (raw)
At a Sweden festival held once a year actors are dressed up as Swedish soldiers. I got the information about the regiments name by the flagbearer. The Regiment carried with it a wagon having the cipher of Swedish king Carl XII, who lost the Nordic war against a coalition lead by Russia. Therefore I dated this flag about 1700. The ratio I couldn't find out, because the flag never was completely unfurled. So I also don't know whether this flag is really a genuine military flag or a decorative fantasy.
Description of flag:
It is a red gironny flag with eight yellow tongues of fire, in each corner and the middle of each side. In the centre is a yellow roundel with the regiments badge.
Source: I spotted this flag on 22 August in Wismar at Sweden Festival 2008.
